More Than Just a Coding Competition
The Veeam Community Hackathon brings together people from across the backup, cloud, virtualization, automation, and security communities to collaborate on real ideas and real projects. Participants work together in teams to build integrations, dashboards, automation tools, AI assistants, monitoring platforms, APIs, extensions, reporting solutions, security-focused projects, and even home lab or experimental concepts. There are no restrictions on the technology stack, allowing teams to use the tools and platforms they know best to bring their ideas to life.
You Don’t Need to Be a Full-Time Developer
Some of the best hackathon ideas come from backup admins, architects, MSP engineers, and people solving real-world operational problems every day.
Developers
Build integrations, APIs, dashboards, and automation tools.
Sysadmins
Bring real-world operational challenges and ideas to life.
Architects
Design solutions that improve resilience, visibility, and automation.
Students & First-Time Participants

Built by the Community
The Veeam Community Hackathon is driven by collaboration, creativity, and a shared passion for building better tools and experiences for the ecosystem.
Whether you’re joining to learn, network, experiment, or compete, you’ll be building alongside people who care deeply about technology, automation, resilience, and innovation.
I have been working with these guys for years now! With lots of hard work, Veeam’s Community Hackathon 2024 was a truly special experience – my first hackathon at all! Our team was made up of dedicated members, and even though I had limited coding skills, I was still able to contribute in some meaningful ways.
From the beginning, our collaboration was open and goal-oriented. What stood out to me the most was the great sense of community and the opportunity to expand my professional network. After a few intense days full of learning, creativity, and fun, we reached the highlight: our project was selected as the winner! It was an incredible journey, and one thing is clear: this won’t be my last hackathon. I’ll have to join again!
It was my first time attending the hackathon. Together with a team of both well-known colleagues and people I didn’t know at first, we teamed up very quickly and got the ideas flowing. During the tight time frame, we assigned different tasks to our team members and stayed in contact very frequently to declare our topic asap. After a short decision period, we got the code flowing and were able to pull a first alpha of our code, and made a mobile app for VCSP. It was a blast to cooperate with people all around the globe and even win the hackathon with our international team in that short period of time!
The Veeam Community held a hackathon in 2023, which I had the pleasure of being a part of was my first ever hackathon, and it was a great experience, from meeting the group assigned to you, working through ideas, to seeing your concept come to life. It is also great when you win as well. I highly recommend participating in one.
I took part in Veeam ‘s first Community Hackathon. I am not a coder, so I initially did not sign up, but I was told that you did not need to code in order to participate.
This was, in fact, the case, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience as a Team Leader. One of the biggest benefits was that the hackathon mirrored a similar situation in real life, when people with different skillsets come together to solve a problem or create a project.
Now that I have my first hackathon under my belt, I am very much looking forward to the next one since the experience that I gained will undoubtedly help me do even better next time!
The Veeam Community Hackathon was a great opportunity to take a new “product” from idea to development to “launch” (hackathon presentation) together with a wonderful team.
